House hunting on the Gold Coast? At the top of many buyer wish lists is to own a home within waking distance of the beach. But is this even possible if your budget is $1.5M or less?
For walking distance we’re using within 1km as our guide. And the answer is – yes you can. Here are three homes that sold in the last few months under the $1.5M mark.
Let’s take a look.

First we’re going to head south to Tugun to look at two homes. To access the beach from these two homes you do have to cross the Gold Coast highway, and are you’re also under the flight path being very close to the Gold Coast airport, but you can pick up a stand alone home here for under $1.5M.
The first is this 3 bed, 1 bath home at 14 Dilgara Street which was sold by LJ Hooker Southern Gold Coast in November 2024 for $1.361M. This one is jpretty much right on a kilometre to the beach.

Just down the road we also have 16 Koombala Street Tugun, a 3 bed 2 bath home that was also sold by the LJ Hooker team. This one went for $1.35 million in October 2024 and is about 2 minutes closer to the beach.

For our final property we’re going to head north to Palm Beach and this 3 bed, 2 bath property at 2/6 Magnoli Circuit. This one is a duplex but is only a few years old, and is a short 500m walk to the beach. This one sold in November 2024 by Black and White Estate Agents for $1.4M.
So, yes you can still buy a home on the Gold Coast for under $1.5M within walking distance of the beach, but you’re most likely looking at home that is:
- three bedrooms at most.
- it may be under the flight path.
- on the non-beach side of the Gold Coast highway.
- North of Tugun it’s a good chance it will also be a duplex.
